My Take On Postponing Shoots

I’m supposed to be photographing a beautiful family of four outside in Horsham, PA right now.  Instead, it’s pouring rain and I’m typing this post.  This rain, in fact, has been gracing our region off and on for basically the entire month of June so far, and it looks like it’s going to continue for the rest of this week.  Awesome!

NOT!  As you can imagine, rainfall poses a series of problems for me since this time of year most of my shoots either partially or fully take place outside.  I don’t like having to cancel or postpone things.  It’s a totally different story if a client has to cancel because a little one has an ear infection, or fell the day before and broke a bone.  Whenever the weather forces me to cancel/postpone, it makes my blood boil.  This is new though.  Up until two weeks ago I only EVER had to postpone a shoot due to rain a total of THREE times.  That’s not bad!  In the past two weeks, SEVEN shoots have had to be postponed.  SEVEN!  Heart-attack!

Look poor Chasey has been stuck inside.  His expression says it all.  DSC_5202 DSC_5205DSC_5220DSC_5224 DSC_5227DSC_5233DSC_5240 DSC_5245 DSC_5266 DSC_5268 DSC_5283

I normally love a quiet, rainy day every once in a while.  When editing a big shoot, a birth or a wedding especially it’s nice to be cuddled up inside in front of the computer with the rain pitter-pattering on your windowsill, sipping a warm cup of coffee, listening to Pandora, knowing that you’re not missing anything fun outside since it’s raining.  However, enough already.  Where’s the summer sun???
