May 2013 Business Book :: The Fast Track Photographer Business Plan by Dane Sanders

“To dare is to lose one’s footing momentarily.  To not dare is to lose oneself.” – Soren Kierkgaard

Even though I’ve been in the photography business for a while now, I chose this book for May because I heard it was really good (thanks Mum).  The major thing I’ve taken away has been the importance of staying creative, and that the key to staying creative is to create systems.  Systems are just like checklists for the routine things that I do over and over again for my business.  When you spend less time on the routine things then you’re less drained and you can be more creative.  I’ve been doing this (sort of) since the beginning thankfully because as my dad has always said, “stress takes a vacation when you’re organized”.  So true.  Systems take the stress out of having to remember everything.  And when you don’t have to remember EVERYthing because you have systems in place … life is GOOD and your mind can be more focused on being present and creative.

More systems = Less Stress.  Less Stress = More Creative.  More Creative = … infinite possibilities.
