Introducing … Origin Photo Frames

I am so excited to announce that Origin Photo will now be offering custom, re-claimed barnwood frames made right here in our basement by my incredibly good-looking and equally talented husband, Steve Miller!  Steve’s been making things since he was a baby.  He’s a mechanical engineer by trade, however his dad, Garry, is a contractor and builds beautiful homes and incredible additions.  So Steve was raised by a man who is a natural builder and a natural teacher, which is why he’s become such a handy guy.  He’s also naturally interested in how EVERYTHING works.  Sometimes I find him just staring and inspecting things and rating the execution of the way it was built.   Here’s Steve in our basement a.k.a. his Picture Frame Workshop!

Steve’s been making frames for years.  Here’s one he made for me as a gift on our one year wedding anniversary with a print he ordered from etsy.  Ah, meh man!

He made it using the wood from our old basement steps.  We had to rip them out and put new stairs down because they weren’t too sturdy when we first moved in.

Anyway, back to Origin Photo Frames!  Here’s Steve making a few cuts with the good-old saw.

We buy the wood from an Allentown farmer who also collects wood from old barns that were demolished.  We purposely buy wood that lived on the outer sides of the barns so that it shows the beautiful evidence of years of exposure to the elements.  All of the wood is lead-free.  Philadelphia photography teamPhiladelphia frame makerPhiladelphia local framerblack and white workshopphotography frame

And here’s what they look like when they’re finished.  Pretty sweet, huh?!
